Bag It

Bag It

Try going a day without plastic. Plastic is everywhere and infiltrates our lives in unimaginable and frightening ways. This touching and often flat-out-funny film that has won numerous awards at film festivals across the country follows “everyman” Jeb Berrier as he embarks on a global tour to unravel the complexities of our plastic world. What starts as a film about plastic bags evolves into a wholesale investigation into plastic and its effect on our waterways, oceans, and even our own bodies. This film’s focus resonates in Washington, DC with the local tax on plastic bags, effective in 2010, that has dramatically reduced the usage of plastic bags in our area and benefited cleanup efforts in the Anacostia River. (Running time: 74 min. Not rated.)
